Are any other shark species filter feeders?
Yes, two other species of shark are also filter feeders; the basking shark and the megamouth. The basking shark grows to a length of around 30ft or 10 meters and lives in temperate water. Just like the whale shark it cruises the seas close to the surface with it's mouth open, filtering plankton. The Megamouth was only discovered in 1976 and lives in deep water and grows to a length of at least 18 feet or 6 meters.
