Labyrinth and Pretty Bush and located right next door to each other about a 20 minute relaxed swim between them. An extremely popular south shore combination, dive from Pretty Bush heading east towards Labyrinth. After around 20 minutes make sure your at a depth of around 12m to 13m (40ft) and you will find a swim through that exits into a canyon. Follow the canyon up to 6m (18ft) and you will enter into a area of sand channels which you can follow all the way back to the Pretty Bush mooring. As the name suggests there is a labyrinthine maze of sand channels and canyons at this dive site. Great fun to explore looking for the many swim throughs that are dotted around these channels. Check under the ledges as you explore because Labyrinth is a popular location for nurse sharks and the ever present green morays. A small pinnacle just a few minutes swim from the Labyrinth mooring has a resident frog fish, this master of camouflage is always a challenge to find! Frog fish If you explore further up into the shallows between Labyrinth and Pretty Bush you will find a coral regrowing station with young staghorn corals growing on the frame. When they have grown sufficiently they will be moved out on to the reef. This forms part of the active reef conservation and monitoring work carried out around Utila. Labyrinth is situated just a little way down the coast from Black Coral Wall so this makes a dive taking in both sites possible and it is a popular combination. dive site map (PDF)
