Midnight Parrot Fish
A Shallow coral garden (15ft to 20ft) fringing the Iron Shore and then dropping down a 60ft/18m wall which rounds the point on the north side of island. The curve in the point plus a shallowing of the bottom from the huge depths along turtle harbor creates Utila's best drift dive. A number of overhangs and chimneys can be found to explore as you drift with the current along the old ice age sea wall here. Schools of Tarpon can often be found lurking in the overhangs, schools of Atlantic Spade fish also enjoy the wall here. If you are a reef creatures person don't forget to shallow up a little and explore the stony corals and gorgonians along the top of wall.
Blackish Point is where you’ll find Midnight Parrot Fish and you can often see the much larger Rainbow Parrot Fish hanging out with the Midnight’s. At the bottom of the wall there is another deeper reef, which slopes down before reaching a large sloping sandy area. Keep an eye to the outer reef and the sand where you can see rays cruising for food.
